New York City, located in the New York state is also known as the Big Apple. Giovanni da Verrazano, an explorer from Florence, Italy, was the first to explore the harbor. Giovanni must have not had any idea his exploration resulted the city to be such a dynamic and diverse city.  The most populous city in the United States is the most ethnically diverse city. The city is home to Indian-Americans, Korean-Americans and several Chinatowns, African Americans and Asian- American Diasporas.

The city has attractions spanning from the Statue of Liberty to the iconic Empire state building – the city has some of the most picturesque surroundings a city has to offer. There are a number of attractions which will make a traveller’s visit truly memorable. 2. Statue of Liberty:
The statue of liberty is perhaps one of the most iconic statues that the US is known for. The statue was a gift from France to the people of United States. It was dedicated in 1886 and remains as a symbol of liberty for people the world over. The statue is located in New York Bay atop Liberty Island and is also designated as a World Heritage site by UNESCO.

 3. The Metropolitan Museum of Art:
The largest and the most visited museum in the country – its collection boasts over two million works across various cultural departments. Founded in 1870, the idea of building a Museum was to encourage the people of America to learn about and develop an interest toward arts. The museum houses various artefacts from Ancient near eastern art, arms and armor, arts from various cultures like Africa, Oceania Americas etc., Egyptian art, paintings and many more.   It is located on 1000 5th Avenue.

4. Broadway Theater: 
A popular tourist attraction, it is commonly known as Broadway. Broadway showcases theatrical performances that have commercial productions. Most performances are musicals and have longest running musicals like The Phantom of the Opera. It is also located in Midtown Manhattan.

5. Times Square:
The most visited tourist attraction in the country. It is also well known around the world for its neon billboards.  It is a major intersection with many tourists and pedestrians passing through the busy city-streets. It is also located in Midtown Manhattan.
